Salvage Direct was founded in 1997 by Bob Joyce, claims manager for a tier one insurance company. Mr. Joyce was managing the salvage process and developing creative solutions for marketing salvage when he came up with the original, on-line only salvage vehicle auction concept.

Shortly after the initial SalvageDirect.com was launched Mr. Joyce attracted very excited investors and funding from leading innovative organizations such as the Ben Franklin Partnership.
Today, the company has nearly 100 managed faciliities through the United States and contracts with many insurance companies.

Salvage Direct is a leading online remarketer of all kinds of vehicles including cars, trucks, motorcycles, power sports, watercraft, commercial equipment and vehicles. The company also provides logistic and title management for its customers.
Recently, the company has expanded into the consignment market. Salvage Direct remarkets all kinds of vehicles including recovered, reposessed, damaged, non-damaged, salvage and non-salvage. Every seller can take advantage of a range of marketing services that target a worldwide bidding market.

Most of these units are total losses for the insurance companies. A few are recovered vehicles from theft or storm damage. All are settled with the original owner and titled for salvage through Salvage Direct's efficient titling department.
